Becoming a Financial Contributor:

To make the Stark Center the effective research tool we know it can become, we are actively seeking financial contributions from private individuals and foundations to support staffing, research, acquisitions, conservation work, student fellowships, and equipment. The 3.5 million dollar gift from the Nelda C. and H.J. Lutcher Stark Foundation of Orange, Texas, will pay for the construction of the new 27,500 square foot H.J. Lutcher Stark Center for Physical Culture and Sports facility. However, all of that grant will be used in paying for the “bricks and mortar” construction needs of the Center, and so more funding is needed to help support cataloging, conservation work, and the various operations of the Center.  Significant donations might even be eligible for naming opportunities.

Donations to The Stark Center can be made to The University of Texas, a non-profit, tax-exempt corporation through the College of Education giving website. To make your contribution, please visit our secure website and make sure that “The Stark Center” is selected in the drop-down box on the left hand side. All donations go directly to the Stark Center.

Donating Artifacts, Books, Magazines, Photos and Other Materials:

The Todd-McLean Collection has been at UT since 1983, and its growth has been significantly augmented by the donation from private individuals of books, magazines, photographs, scrapbooks, correspondence, manuscript files, posters, trophies, paintings, training equipment, artifacts, and other items. If you have materials related to the history of physical culture, exercise, or alternative medicine or materials related to the history of sports at UT or elsewhere that you would be interested in donating or loaning to the Stark Center, please contact us via our emails below or by calling 512-471-4890.
